Cyclones

Cyclones - This group represents a progressive level with swimmers starting to make swimming a priority in their life.  Swimmers are willing to attend at least three to four (3-4) workouts per week and train for at least 90-120 minutes at each workout.  These swimmers are well versed in all competitive strokes, rules of competition in USA swimming, and in lane etiquette.   These swimmers move from primarily stroke instruction to actual competitive training/technique improvement. Swimmers must complete the ’Goals and Criteria of the Hurricane Group’ below plus six of the following nine before entering the Cyclone group:  Swimmers may be reassigned if unable to complete.  Swimmers must be 10 years old for consideration to enter.  Age does not guarantee placement.

 

Swimming Goals and Criteria of Cyclone Group:

 

1.       10x50 @ 1:00 – actively working on distance per stroke

2.       8x25 @ :40 IM order

3.       Swim 10 x 100 freestyle @ 1:30 yds

4.       Swim 5 x 200 IM @ 3:40 yds

5.       Kick 1x50 with fins under :50

6.       Swim under 2:30 in 200 yd freestyle

7.       Swim 400 IM legally in a meet

8.       Proficient in all 4 strokes

9.       Learn and improve goal setting skills (written) 

 

Behavior Goals of Cyclone Group: to remain in group

  1. Attend 66-83% of practices (4 to 5 practices per week)
  2. Demonstrate healthy eating and sleeping habits and manage commitments
  3. Actively listens and respects coaches and fellow swimmers
  4. To consistently improve commitment level, sportsmanship, and training/racing ability from season to season

Goal to move into the Senior Program within two or three years and be the leaders of tomorrow.
