National

National - This group focuses its training and competitive efforts at the highest levels of USA Swimming including National and International competitions and athlete actions and goals reflect the mission statement of USA Swimming: to build, promote, and achieve competitive success at its highest level.  Swimmers in this group register with Tsunami Swim Team for 11 months continuously with the exception being college swimmers.  Additional practices may be added at coach’s discretion and do count towards attendance requirements. The National swimmer is a positive, hard-working example not only for the Tsunami program, but also for USA Swimming as a whole. This squad is limited to swimmers who are prepared in terms of skills, physical training, and emotional maturity as well as qualifying level.  National Swimmers must have Junior National cut to enter National group.  Returning Swimmers must sign a yearly commitment at the beginning of the season in September in order to train with this group.  Ultimately, National Coach has full discretion in group appointments and entry is by invite only.

 

Criteria to remain in the National group

  • 100% expected attendance - *Coach retains discretion of accepting absences which do not count against attendance figure – must meet % to attend National approved meets and receive Travel Fund, if applicable.
  • Actions and attitudes match goal of National group packet which will be distributed.
  • Swimmers must dual participate (if applicable) starting in September and set up participation with Head coach prior to practicing.  This includes high school swimmers.
  • Active in club fundraising or clinics offered for younger team members.
  • Must live lifestyle appropriate for achieving greatest personal success - Nutrition, no drugs, tobacco products.
  • Ability to train at or above a level appropriate for current experience and speed.
  • Swimmers arriving late will be counted against attendance.
  • Willingness to perform every event (every distance) prescribed by Head Coach.
  • Senior National” qualifiers must practice in MO. 

 

Goals and Expectations of the National Group:

  • National Swimmers are expected to do everything within their power to reach their own personal potential.
  • Swimmers shall be positive representatives of the Tsunami Swim Team when representing their high school team.
  • Demonstrate good leadership by helping your teammates reach their goals by your positive encouragement and actions. You should have the support of your family to help you reach National level performances.
  • Actively improve “Hidden Training”: (nutrition, sleep, psychological factors, massage, dryland, weights).
  • Consideration – Junior National + 2 sec within previous 12 months of renewed registration.

College swimmers are welcome to participate with Tsunami Swim Team National group – must get approval from Head Coach.
